Två stora kyrkbomber i Egypten

Medan Sverige fortfarande är skakat av dådet på
Drottninggatan (och regeringen t o m överväger
något slags åtgärder mot kalifatets terror)
kommer nyheten om två stora attentat
mot kopterna i Egypten.

Mitt under Palmsöndagsgudstjänsten
bombades
S:t Georgskyrkan i Tanta och S:t Markus-
katedralen i Alexandria. Påve Tawadros II,
som just avslutat gudstjänsten uppges vara
oskadad.

Antalet döda uppges till över 50. Skadade över 100.

TANTA, Egypt (AP) — Bombs tore through two Egyptian churches in different cities as worshippers were marking Palm Sunday, killing at least 37 people and wounding around 100 in an assault claimed by the Islamic State group.
In the first, attack, a bomb exploded at Saint George church in the Nile Delta city of Tanta, killing at least 26 people and wounding over 70, officials said.
Later, an explosion hit Saint Mark's Cathedral in the coastal city of Alexandria, the historic seat of Christendom in Egypt, killing at least 11 people and wounding 35 just after Pope Tawadros II finished services. His aides later told local media that he had escaped unharmed.

IS claimed the attacks via its Aamaq news agency, after having recently warned that it would step up attacks on Egypt's Christians.
The blasts came at the start of Holy Week leading up to Easter, and just weeks before Pope Francis is due to visit the Arab world's most populous country.

CBC TV showed footage from inside the church in Tanta, where a large number of people gathered around what appeared to be lifeless, bloody bodies covered with papers. Regional Deputy Health Minister Mohammed Sharshar confirmed the toll.

Across the street, neighbor Susan Mikhail, whose apartment has a clear balcony view of the church and its front yard, said the explosion violently shook her building midmorning, at a time when the church was packed.
"Deacons were the first to run out of the church. Many of them had blood on their white robes," she told The Associated Press. Later, the more seriously wounded started to come out, carried in the arms of survivors and ferried to hospitals in private cars, she said.

Pope Francis decried the bombings, expressing "deep condolences to my brother, Pope Tawadros II, the Coptic church and all of the dear Egyptian nation." Word of the attacks came as Francis himself was marking Palm Sunday in St. Peter's Square.

Grand Sheikh Ahmed el-Tayeb, head of Egypt's Al-Azhar — the leading center of learning in Sunni Islam — likewise condemned the attacks, calling them a "despicable terrorist bombing that targeted the lives of innocents."
Both Israel and the Islamic Hamas movement ruling neighboring Gaza also condemned the bombings.

The bombings add to fears that Islamic extremists who have long been battling security forces in the Sinai Peninsula are shifting their focus to civilians.
An Islamic State affiliate claimed a suicide bombing at a Cairo church in December that killed around 30 people, mostly women, as well as a string of killings in the restive northern Sinai that caused hundreds of Christians to flee to safer areas of the country.

The group recently released a video vowing to step up attacks against Christians, who it describes as "infidels" empowering the West against Muslims.
Egypt has struggled to combat a wave of Islamic militancy since the 2013 military overthrow of an elected Islamist president.

Cairo — The death toll of the St. Peter and St. Paul church bombing in December increased to 29 after the death of 14-year-old Dimyana Amir, reported state-run MENA news agency on Saturday.

The blast, which coincided with the Muslim celebration of the Prophet's Birthday, took place at the church attached to one of Egypt's most symbolic sites for Copts, St. Mark's Coptic Cathedral.

Dozens of worshippers were injured in the explosion, many of whom are women and children attending Sunday mass.

One day after the explosion, President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi identified the suicide bomber as 22-year old Mahmoud Shafiq Mohamed Mostafa.

The interior ministry announced later that people in connection with the
Muslim Brotherhood group schemed the attack on the church.
The ministry said then that it arrested four people including a woman, all of whom assisted the suicide bomber.
The Islamic State group claimed responsibility for the attack.

Islamistiska terrorn mot kopterna ökar

Efter maktskiftet i Egypten tilltar nu
den islamistiska terrorn mot kopterna.
Den koptiska påven Tawadros
uppträdde i onsdags i TV till stöd
för arméns maktskifte, vilket väckte
extremisternas raseri. Alla kristna är
nu fritt villebråd för islamisterna.

TV-tal till jihad mot påven och
anti-islamistiska sunnimuslimer, som
Al-Azhars rektor Al-Tayyib, som aktivt
motsätter sig landets islamisering.

AINA rapporterar ikväll:
"This morning masked men gunned down
Father Mina Cheroubim, pastor of the
Coptic Orthodox church, as he left his church
building in el-Arish North Sinai, 344 kilometers
northeast of Cairo.
Yesterday Muslims attacked Coptic inhabitants
in the village of Nag Hassan, Dabayaa, in Luxor
province.
This attack was prompted by news that
allegedly four Copts killed 45-year-old
Muslim H. Hefny, whose body was found near
the river. The attack killed four and wounded
three. 16 homes and shops were torched,
including the home of a Coptic family who are
accused of being involved in the killing of the
Muslim man. Police and ambulances were sent
to the village as hundreds of scared Coptic
inhabitants left the village. One of the villagers
said that the dead Muslim was not killed by
Copts but by Muslims in order to cause sedition
and force Christians to leave the village.

Muslims have continued terrorizing Christians.
On July 3rd, in the village of Delga in Deir Mawas,
Minya Province, which has a population over
65,000, the services building of the Coptic
Catholic Church of St. Georges was looted and
torched, and the El-Saleh Church in Delga was
heavily fired at. The villagers had their homes and
businesses looted and torched. Most of the Copts,
the majority in Delga, left their homes in fear.
Two Christians were wounded from the fires.
Rev. Ayub Saleh, pastor of Delga Catholic Church,
who was smuggled out across rooftops by the
neighbors, said that supporters of former
President Morsy are engaged in continuous
and unprecedented harassment of Copts.
He said that a number of those people broke
into the homes of Christians at gunpoint,
terrorizing women, children and seizing
gold jewelry and furniture.
He contacted security forces, pleading for help.
Witnesses said security arrived
next morning.
"Every Coptic home they loot, they torch
afterwards -- Muslim homes are spared,"
said a village Copt to activist Mariam Ragy in an
aired interview. "Most Copts are outside of the village,
not knowing whether their homes are still there or
looted and torched." He said that Muslims walk
normally in the streets, they just go to Christian
homes and take what they want."
He said the situation and persecution of the Copts
is still the same, before and after the 30th June
Revolution, as it is now dubbed."

Påve manar till kamp mot islamismen

Den nyvalde koptiske påven Tawadros II
manar i sitt första uttalande Egyptens kopter
livet.
- Men det kräver att demokratin bevaras och
stärks. Religiösa lagar (= sharia) som
konstitution är inte acceptabelt för
egyptierna.
