Top Iranian officials on Friday pointed to Israel as the likely culprit in the assassination of top nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh, with some vowing revenge for the death of the man Jerusalem has pointed to as the head of the country’s nuclear weapons program.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif claimed there were “serious indications of [an] Israeli role” in the assassination.

“Terrorists murdered an eminent Iranian scientist today. This cowardice — with serious indications of Israeli role — shows desperate warmongering of perpetrators,” Zarif wrote on Twitter.

He also called on the international community to “end their shameful double standards and condemn this act of state terror.”

Hossein Dehghan, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and a presidential candidate in Iran’s 2021 election, issued a warning on Twitter.

“In the last days of their gambling ally’s political life, the Zionists seek to intensify and increase pressure on Iran to wage a full-blown war,” Dehghan wrote, appearing to refer to US President Donald Trump. “We will descend like lightning on the killers of this oppressed martyr and we will make them regret their actions!”

Iran’s military chief Mohammad Bagheri accused “the malicious Zionist entity of committing a brutal act.” He said Fakhrizadeh’s death was “a “major blow to the Iranian defense system.”

But Bagheri promised that “the path started by the likes of Fakhrizadeh will not stop” and said that “terrorist groups, commanders and elements involved in this cowardly act [should know] a difficult retaliation awaits them.”

Hossein Salami, chief commander of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guards, tweeted: “Assassinating nuclear scientists is the most violent confrontation to prevent us from reaching modern science.”

Yadollah Javani, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards’ political bureau, said that “the Zionists are behind many of these assassinations.”

Claiming Iran was “one of the main victims of terrorism” in the world, Javani lamented that “the United States and European countries also support the Zionist regime… Countries that ostensibly claim to fight terrorists but in practice support terrorists.”

Israel declined to immediately comment on the killing of Fakhrizadeh, who Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu once called out in a news conference saying: “Remember that name.” Israel has long been suspected of carrying out a series of targeted killings of Iranian nuclear scientists nearly a decade ago.

In this photo released by the official website of the office of the Iranian Presidency, President Hassan Rouhani, right, listens to Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces Gen. Mohammad Hossein Bagheri during the army parade commemorating National Army Day in front of the shrine of the late revolutionary founder Ayatollah Khomeini, just outside Tehran, Iran on April 18, 2019. State TV said Fakhrizadeh was attacked by “armed terrorist elements.” He died at a local hospital after doctors and parademics couldn’t revive him.

The semiofficial Fars news agency, believed to be close to the country’s Revolutionary Guard, said the attack happened in Absard, a small city just east of the capital, Tehran. It said witnesses heard the sound of an explosion and then machine gunfire. The attack targeted a car that Fakhrizadeh was in, the agency said.

Others wounded, including Fakhrizadeh’s bodyguards, also were taken to a local hospital, the agency said.

The killing comes just days before the 10-year anniversary of the killing of Iranian nuclear scientist Majid Shahriari, which Tehran also blamed on Israel. Those targeted killings came alongside the so-called Stuxnet virus, believed to be an Israeli and American creation, that destroyed Iranian centrifuges.

Fakhrizadeh led Iran’s so-called “Amad,” or “Hope” program. Israel and the West have alleged it was a military operation looking at the feasibility of building a nuclear weapon in Iran. Tehran long has maintained its nuclear program is peaceful.

The International Atomic Energy Agency says Iran “carried out activities relevant to the development of a nuclear explosive device” in a “structured program” through the end of 2003. That was the Amad program, which included work on the carefully timed high explosives needed to detonate a nuclear bomb.

Iran also “conducted computer modeling of a nuclear explosive device” before 2005 and between 2005 and 2009, the IAEA has said. The agency said, however, that those calculations were “incomplete and fragmented.”

Netanyahu asserted in 2018 that Fakhrizadeh continued to lead Iran’s nuclear weapons efforts, despite the 2015 nuclear deal meant to prevent Tehran from constructing such weapons.

Fakhrizadeh’s assassination comes less than two months before Joe Biden is to take office as US president.

Biden has promised a return to diplomacy with Iran after four hawkish years under incumbent US President Donald Trump, who withdrew from the Iran nuclear deal in 2018 and began reimposing crippling sanctions.

Trump said at the time that the deal did not offer sufficient guarantees to stop Tehran from acquiring an atomic bomb.

***

Unconfirmed reports have been hinting at the possible death of Al-Qaeda's chief Ayman Al-Zawahiri, who had succeeded Osama bin Laden after the latter's death in 2011. This news has been circulating online without any official statements so far.

Reports of Al-Zawahiri's demise were first tweeted by Syrian-American journalist Hassan Hassan, who said that the 69-year old Egyptian chief of Al Qaeda terrorist group "died about a month ago of natural causes."

According to Hassan, the word has been circulating amongst what he called "jihadi circles," noting that "some sources close to Hurras Al-Din also known as Guardians of Religion Organization, the Syrian group affiliated with Al Qaeda, have been treating these reports as confirmed."

None of the sources quoted have yet revealed any details about the location of Al-Zawahiri's reported death.

While no officials statements have been released yet by any government regarding the news, social media commentators have been contemplating names of possible successors of Al Zawahiri, saying that bin Laden's son, Hamza, is amongst the potential candidates, especially after the death of another high-ranking Al Qaeda leader a few months ago.

Two days ago, US media reported the death of Al Qaeda's second-highest-ranking militant, also an Egyptian called Abu Muhammad Al-Masri in an airstrike in Iran about three months ago. According to the NYT, the operation in which Al-Masri was killed was "led by Israeli agents who shot him in a Tehran street on the 7th of August 2020."

According to many US media sources, Al-Masri was one of the main suspects of the blasts that hit the American Embassy in the Kenyan capital in 1998, killing more than 200 people.

Ayman Al-Zawahiri was born in Cairo, Egypt in 1951 to a prosperous family. His father was a surgeon and a professor of pharmacy. He studied medicine at Cairo University and graduated in 1974 to work as a surgeon in the Egyptian Army.

The young doctor, who spoke Arabic, English, and French fluently, had also earned an MA degree in surgery, working for a private clinic he founded in Cairo before working in Saudi Arabia for a year in the 1980s, where he met with Osama Bin Laden.

Following the 9/11 attacks, the U.S. State Department had offered a $25 million reward for information leading to Al-Zawahiri's capture, but with no results.

Mossad avlivar hög Al-Qaedaterrorist i Iran

Dagens gladnyhet:

Israeli Intelligence Continues to Help Thwart Terrorist Attacks Abroad
Denmark's security authorities foiled several jihadist terrorist attacks earlier this month after arresting 20 suspects in raids throughout the country. That same week, two brothers were sentenced to long prison terms in Australia after planning to down a commercial airplane on behalf of the Islamic State group in 2017. These developments point to a rising trend in thwarted jihadist terror plots.
But the two cases also share another commonality: Israel's intelligence services reportedly played an integral role in stifling the mass-casualty plots. Denmark and Australia join a long list of countries that relied on Israeli intelligence to prevent serious violence around the world.

According to Israel's Channel 12 news, information from Israel's Mossad foreign intelligence service helped Danish authorities prevent attacks shortly before they were to be executed. Prosecutors allege that two of the suspects tried to purchase guns and ammunition "to be used in connection with one or several terror attacks in Denmark or abroad." The Copenhagen City Court also ordered two other suspects remain imprisoned for allegedly attempting to build several explosive devices.

The relative threat posed by various terrorist actors can be skewed if analysts only look at realized attacks. Europol reports consistently show that European separatists conduct more attacks than jihadists on the continent. But these assessments misrepresent the fact that the jihadist threat is transnational, not inherently localized like separatist movements, and are more likely to generate more fatalities.

Israel's domestic security services, Shin Bet, revealed that Israel foiled more than 450 major terrorist attacks targeting Israel in the past year. The Shin Bet reportedly thwarted 500 attacks the year before. Beyond Israel's vast network of informants and human intelligence capabilities, Israeli intelligence has developed social media analytic programs to detect and anticipate potential terrorist incidents. But Israel diverts much of its intelligence capabilities outward, to help its allies and partners abroad.
The Israeli military's signals intelligence unit, 8200, was credited last year for intercepting communication from a senior Islamic State figure. The unit then provided vital information to Australian authorities that identified operatives planning to smuggle an explosive device onboard a plane leaving from Sydney. The terrorists were detained before reaching airport security.
In June, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that Israel's cyber capabilities helped thwart numerous terrorist attacks in "dozens" of countries. Israel shares intelligence on attacks and malicious cyber activity with 85 countries, he said. A July report from Channel 12 claims that Israel foiled over 50 attacks in 20 countries over the last three years.

Policymakers and observers need to better incorporate foiled plots into their analyses to produce more accurate threat assessments. Last year, for example, jihadist terrorist attacks declined by roughly 50 percent in Europe following significant spikes in attacks the previous two years. Based on this data, some observers started to believe that the Islamic State threat was eroding in Europe. But by including foiled jihadist plots, overall terrorist activity in 2018 was actually higher than any year before 2015, including the 2000s, when al-Qaida struck Europe in several high-profile attacks.
Reports that cite broader terrorist plots do not distinguish among different types of plot stages or potential devastation. But Israel's intelligence helped disrupt major attacks in their final execution phase – as the cases in Denmark and Australia show.

Israel does not only help foil jihadist terror attacks abroad. The Jewish state assists its partners in disrupting several high-profile Iranian terrorist attacks worldwide as well. In October 2018, Mossad reportedly tipped Danish authorities off to a plan to assassinate an Iranian separatist leader in Denmark. In June 2018, European security authorities, based on Israeli intelligence, foiled a terrorist plot orchestrated by an Iranian diplomat allegedly planting to detonate an explosive device at an anti-Iranian regime protest in France.

Iran is cultivating a vast network of terrorist and intelligence operatives across Europe to strike dissident Iranians, rival Arab leaders, and Israeli or Jewish targets. Whether countering the Islamic State or the Islamic Republic of Iran, Israel's domestic and foreign security services work diligently to combat the spread of terrorism around the globe.

Israels underrättelsetriumf: Hela Irans kärnvapenarkiv !

Premiärminister Benjamin Netanyahu kunde på Valborgs-
mässoafton presentera Mossads förmodligen största
triumf hittills:

The senior Israeli official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity
to discuss a secret mission, said that Israel’s Mossad intelligence

service discovered the warehouse in February 2016, and had the
building under surveillance since then.

Mossad operatives broke into the building one night last January,
removed the original documents and smuggled them
back to Israel the same night, the official said.

Mr. Trump was informed of the operation by the Mossad chief,
Yossi Cohen, on a visit to Washington in January, the official said.
The official attributed the delay in making the material public to
the time it took to analyze the documents, the vast majority
of which were in Persian.

UPDATE:

An Israeli official said the Mossad received intelligence that showed
the Iranians were trying to hide all the documents which dealt with the
military dimensions of their nuclear program. The official said that in
a highly secret operation known to a handful of Iranian officials the
Iranians transferred tens of thousands of documents and CD's from
several different sites around the country to a civilian warehouse in
Tehran.  The Israeli official said the Iranians did all that because they
were afraid that in post Iran deal inspections the IAEA will discover
the incriminating documents. The Mossad has put the warehouse
under surveillance and started preparing for a possible operation
to seize the documents. According to Israeli officials more than
100 Mossad spies worked on this operation.

A senior Israeli intelligence official told me the Mossad managed
to put its hands on most of the documents in the warehouse.
"We didn’t take everything because it was too heavy",
he said.

On March 5th Prime Minister Netanyahu met Trump and the
Senior members of the cabinet and briefed them on the details
of the new intelligence. An Israeli official said that at the same
time the Mossad gave the CIA copies of all the 100 thousand
documents it has obtained.

In February Mossad started translating & analyzing the documents
most of were written in Farsi. A special team with 50 analysts was
formed in the Mossad & a separate team is working in the CIA.
Both intelligence agencies still haven’t finished analyzing the
documents.  An Israeli official told me: "The documents tell us
new things about the military dimensions of the Iranian nuclear
program. Things we didn’t know before. The documents give us
new details about Iranian R&D sites, sites for possible nuclear
tests & individuals involved"  The official added: "The documents
tell us more details than the IAEA knew until toady about
the Iranian nuclear program.

100.000 dokument på papper eller digitalt.

planer torde vara på väg...

Svensk professor dödsdömd i Iran: "Israelisk agent"

The government of Sweden has granted citizenship to an academic who is on death row in Iran for allegedly helping Israel kill Iranian nuclear scientists. Sweden’s Foreign Affairs Ministry confirmed on Saturday that , who lives in Sweden and has lectured at Stockholm’s renowned Karolinska Institute, is now a Swedish citizen. IntelNews has covered extensively the case of Dr. Djalali, 45, a professor of disaster medicine who has also taught at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB) in the Belgian capital, as well as in the VUB’s European Master’s program in Disaster Medicine in Italy.

It is believed that Djalali was arrested in Iran in 2016, during a visit from Sweden, where he has been living for several years. He was sentenced to death last year for allegedly helping Israel assassinate nuclear scientists and sabotage Tehran’s nuclear program. Four Iranian physicists, who were employed in Iran’s nuclear program, are known to have been assassinated between 2010 and 2012. Most were killed by magnetic bombs that were placed on their vehicles by unknown assailants, who were then able to escape on motorcycles. Tehran believes that the assassinations were carried out by the Mossad, Israel’s external intelligence agency, with the help of agents recruited by the Israelis from within Iran’s nuclear program.

The office of Tehran’s public prosecutor claims that Djalali admitted holding “several meetings with the Mossad”, during which he allegedly “provided [the Mossad] with sensitive information about Iran’s military and nuclear installations”. The Iranians further claim that Djalali gave Israel the names and addresses of at least 30 senior members of the country’s nuclear program. The list included nuclear physicists, engineers, as well as intelligence and military officials with nuclear specializations. In return for supplying inside information, the Israelis allegedly helped Djalali secure permanent residency in Sweden and financed his move there. Iran claims that the information given to the Mossad by Djalali resulted in the assassination of at least one Iranian scientist. But in a letter written from prison in Iran, the jailed academic claims that he was sentenced to death after he refused to carry out espionage operations on behalf of the Iranian state.

A spokeswoman for Sweden’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Saturday that the Swedish government was aware that Djalali had been granted citizenship by the country’s Migration Board. Consequently, the Ministry was in touch with Iranian authorities and had requested access to the jailed scientist, she said. She added that the Swedish government’s demand was that “the death penalty is not carried out” in the case of Djalali

Israel: Över 20 iranska terrordåd stoppade

Mossads och Shin Bets chefer avslöjade
vid ett möte med regeringen på söndagen:
Det senaste året har Israel förhindrat
över 20 iranska terrordåd mot israeliska
eller judiska mål över hela världen.
Iran och Hizballah försöker ständigt
angripa Israelrelaterade mål utanför
israeliskt territorium. Många av
försöken stoppas i hemlighet.
**
DebkaFile rapporterar:
Those plots were thwarted for two years
until the Burgas airport attack last Wednesday
in which five Israelis and a Bulgarian lost their
lives, Mossad spy chief Tamir Pardo and Shin Bet
internal security chief Yoram Cohen informed
cabinet ministers in a briefing Sunday on
"counter-terrorism activity by the intelligence
services.”
The two security chiefs also gave their evaluations
of the dangers presented by Iran, Syria and Hizballah.
**
 Från Y-net:
In the past year Israel successfully prevented
numerous terror attacks against Israeli targets
abroad – most of which were not reported.
Yedioth ahronoth reported Friday that Prime
Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday
revealed never before published information
about one of the foiled attacks. He said that
an attack against Israelis was prevented in
South Africa, but did not disclose any
further details.
**
Netanyahu held a situation assessment
attended by the IDF chief of staff, and
heads of the Mossad and Shin Bet.
The discussions dealt with the attack in
Bulgaria and the situation in Syria.
A very senior defense official said that since
May 2011 more than 20 terror attacks
have been prevented, including in Azerbaijan
(twice), Kenya, Turkey, Thailand Cyprus and
Bulgaria (prevented at the beginning of the year)
and in Turkey (an attempt to attack the Israeli
Consul in Istanbul).
"Iranians and Hezbollah members are incar-
cerated in jails throughout the world, the
senior security official said.
“We don’t know how long the wave of
terrorism will continue – it's global.”
The official said that when a terror state
that supports and organizes terror such
as Iran joins forces with with an organi-
zation that is prepared to take the risks
like Hezbollah, no country is safe from
possible attacks.

israeliska deltagarna.
Det handlar om vita konvertiter med
europeiska och amerikanska pass.
Minst en uppges ha svenskt pass.
**
The Mossad, says the Sunday Times,
"is hunting a group of white Europeans
who are thought to have converted to
Islam and to be working with the Iranian
Quds force and Hezbollah, the terrorist
group backed by Tehran.
"One of the Israelis’ targets is thought to
be a terrorist carrying a US passport under
the name of David Jefferson, who is be-
lieved to have fled after the Burgas attack"
and "is thought to have another powerful
device" like that used in last week's bomb-
ing, said the report.
According to the Sunday Times, "Security
experts say the Quds force — a unit of
the Iranian Revolutionary Guards — has
recruited a number of white European
Islamic converts, including two Ger-
mans, one from Sweden and a couple
of Britons."
New York police believe Iranian Revolutionary
Guards or their proxies have been involved
so far this year in nine plots against Israeli
or Jewish targets around the world, according
to restricted police documents obtained by
Reuters.
**
According to a report by the Sunday
Times, more than 17,000 troops and
7,000 private security guards will secure
the Olympic Park and 26 other venues,
and an additional 12,500 police will
be deployed to patrol London's streets
in a "series of 'rings of steel.'"
The Sunday Times reports further that
"panic rooms have been installed beneath
the stadium as a haven for VIPs and
spectators in the event of an attack."

Ytterligare två terrorister med svenska pass i Thailand

Israeliska medier spär på med mera
information efter gripandet av terroristen
1. Atris efterspanade två medhjälpare
For the first time in Israel’s 63-year old battle against
terror, its external security agency Mossad Thursday
night, April 21, issued a strong warning to travelling
Israelis to beware of a major terrorist attack which
Hizballah had already set in motion at some un-
disclosed location. The only information attached
to the warning was that Hizballah had consigned a
high-profile team for an operation to avenge the
slaying of its top commander Imad Mughniyeh three
years ago for which it blames Israel.…
The five top Hizballah terrorist operatives named are:
Talal Hamiyah, head of Hizballah’s External Security
Organization – ESO. Deputy of the late Moughniyeh
for many years, Hamiyah stepped into the slain terror-
master’s shoes as commander of overseas operations.
Hizballah’s Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah has
entrusted him with avenging the death of his late boss.
Ahmed Al-Fayd, Hamiyah’s operations officer and right hand.
Najem a-Din, Hizballah’s bomb expert.
Naim Haris. In the guise of a Lebanese businessman,
he is responsible for recruiting collaborators in different
countries for Hizballah’s overseas hits.
Mehmet Taharawrlu, a Turkish national who recruits
local talent to assist in Hizballah attacks in Turkey.

CIA och Mossad - tveksam vänskap....

The Tablet har en intressant artikel
om den förmodade vänskapen mellan
CIA och Mossad. Hur är det egentligen
med den....?
***
The United States Embassy in Tel Aviv,
in a prime beachfront location at 71 Ha
Yarkon Street, is six stories tall, not
including the mysteries on its roof.
Israeli intelligence operatives and
journalists have for many years
suspected that atop the embassy
and perhaps in its basement are
sophisticated surveillance systems
that keep a close electronic eye on
the Jewish state. Certainly, as is
standard in most any U.S. Embassy,
there is a suite of offices comprising
the CIA station, its staffers given
diplomatic titles such as “second
secretary.”
**
No attempt is made to hide their
identity from Israeli authorities
because this host government is
considered friendly.
Friendship between nations, especially
in the volatile Middle East, is not naïve.
The Mossad and other Israeli security
agencies, as well as top politicians,
assume that the United States routinely
listens to their phone conversations,
copies fax messages, and intercepts
email messages—data known in the
spy business as comint (communications
intelligence)—and also gathers sigint
(signals intelligence), which involves
analyzing data transmitted on various
wavelengths by Israeli military units,
aviation manufacturers, space launch
sites, labs suspected of doing nuclear
work: any defense-related facility that
puts out signals. This assumption is
strengthened by the fact that more
than 20 years ago, embassy officials
approached Israeli authorities with a
request to rent office space in the
Mandarin Hotel, on the beach north of
Tel Aviv. Permission was denied, because
that location is on a precise east-west line
barely a mile from Mossad headquarters
(inland at the Gelilot highway intersection)
and a bit farther from the equally secretive
military intelligence codebreaking and high-
tech surveillance Unit 8200.

Stor Mossadframgång mot Hizballah

Nyhetsbrevet Debka File avslöjar Mossads kanske största
framgång på årtionden i kampen mot islamismen. Hela
**
A large Lebanese army force which raided the Lebanese
Internet network center on Mt. Barukh east of the
Lebanese town of Jezzine Saturday, Aug. 8 was dismayed
to discover the exchange center which carries all of
Lebanon's Internet links using equipment made in Israel.
An intelligence sweep found the servers were routed to an
exchange center in Haifa.
The soldiers impounded piles of equipment and rounded
up several detainees at the mountain center and several
Lebanese Internet companies.
Upon learning of the discovery, Hizballah demanded an
immediate and thorough investigation of how all of Israeli
intelligence acquired free access to all Lebanese internet
communications like an open book.
In recent months, Lebanon has seen one suspected Israeli
spy network after another exposed across the country.
Wednesday, Aug. 5, DEBKAfile first disclosed that the spy
rings were not busted by Lebanese intelligence but by
agents of the Russian Federal Security Service - FSB working
undercover in Lebanon since early this year at the invitation
of the Lebanese Shiite Hizballlah.
To read this article click
HERE
Russian agents may also have led the Lebanese army to their
discovery of the Israeli data center on Mt. Barukh.
**
Hizballah now claims that among the users of the clandestine
network were the presidential palace, the defense department
and select security and financial institutions in Beirut. Senior
Hizballah officials and the UN peacekeepers HQ were also
offered the cut-rate service. If this information is correct,
Israeli intelligence was able to tap into the most sensitive
Internet correspondence from the highest Lebanese official
quarters.

Mossad förhindrar terrordåd i Prag

Hizballah, som fortfarande törstar efter hämnd
för Imad Mughniyehs död i Damaskus 28
februari förra året. Israels säkerhetsorgan har
höjt beredskapen inför årsdagen.
Haaretz avslöjar samtidigt att ett attentat mot
Israels ambassad i Azerbaijan nyligen stoppades.
Egyptiska säkerhetstjänsten har även sprängt
en Hizballah-cell i Sinai, som planerade attentat
mot israeliska turister.
Enligt uppgift från en dansk säkerhetskälla
skulle det stora terrordådet riktats mot
Israels ambassad i Prag,
sannolikt med anledning av att
Tjeckien nu är ordförandeland i EU.

Israel bildar Anti-Jihad Forum

Jerusalem Post rapporterar:
The government has decided to establish
a special forum that will deal with threats to Israelis
posed by global jihad organizations, both locally and
abroad, Army Radio reported Thursday.
**

The National Security Council's Counterterrorism
Bureau chief, Nitzan Nuriel, is expected to head
the forum, which will have members from the
Mossad, Shin Bet, IDF and other relevant security
apparatuses.
The forum will convene at least once every two
months, according to the scale of the threats,
with the goal of assisting the collaboration of
all the security forces in the face of the growing
terror attack warnings.
**
The Security Cabinet ministers approved the
forum's establishment in the hope that institution-
alization of the cooperation and coordination
between security and intelligence apparatuses
would improve Israel's management of the
global jihad threat.
Over the years, al-Qaida has succeeded in
establishing widespread terror infrastructures
around the world.
**
In 2002, just one year after the 9/11 terror
attacks, twelve people, three of them Israelis,
were killed in an attack on a Mombasa hotel
in Kenya. Al-Qaida was also linked to the 2004
terror attack in Sinai.
The Shin Bet has expressed fears that the group
was laying foundations in the West Bank.
Israeli security forces recently warned that
terrorists associated with al-Qaida would join
forces with groups linked to Hizbullah in an
attack to avenge the murder of arch terrorist
Imad Mugniyeh.
